TOTEMS OF ORAON COMMUNITY

Mundari "kili" is similar to Sanskrit kul. The initial term of the Irish ‍Scotch word of CLEN. The custom of the tribe is also in other nations. As like, Signs are found in Asia and Europe. As the Munda community developed by the custom of the tribe, the same happened in the Oraons. Research Experts say that the customs of the tribes of the indigenous people have been flowing on the individual form. The tribe is the main identity of their totems; it is a strong bond between the family and the nation. It is formed to avoid family dynasty and the destruction of the nation. The totem is the natural symbol of their group, which is very worshipful to them.

That is why the father of their lineage is said to be the son of the father in totem, not the mother. Like his father Tigga Totem, his child will be in Tigga Totem. With a few special purposes, Totem tradition strengthens the society. Such as

1. Marriage is prohibited among children in the same totem.
2. In order not to create misery in the village.
3. Protecting your own group and protecting relationships with different groups or totems.

Whenever they get people from their totem anywhere in the world, they are considered to be members of their own group or blood and in relation to their age group. They relate to the brother's marriage to Yair and Shali to Gui.

There is a story about the origin of these totems. Like the name of a totem in Kujur, this Kujur totem originates from an Oraon asleep under the Kujur tree. To protect him from the clutches of violent animal, a stroke of the Kujur tree is tangled to the sleeping man.
